The line you draw becomes the character of your blade. Forge and polish the steel, collect fittings, and enjoy the sword you made. This is the support page for Hamon.
These instructions describe version 1.5. Some features are not available in earlier versions.
Choose length, curvature and one of five tip styles. Compare the full blade and a close-up of its tip. Fine and standard brushes, undo and redo help you draw the hamon.
Appraisal values score forging and quenching. They are not currency or sale proceeds. Existing saved blades keep their shape and appraisal history.
Make your own Japanese sword in four stages: hammer the steel, draw its temper line in clay, time the quench, and polish the blade. Combine different shapes, curves, temper lines, and fittings.
Save your finished sword to your collection. Name your saved blades and inspect them with 360° rotation, zoom, and a full-screen view. Your most recently saved sword appears on the home screen.
Complete and save new swords to unlock full sets automatically. You start with the simple Ink set. Your first saved sword unlocks Vermilion, three unlock Snow, and eight unlock Cherry Blossom. Ten sets are available after 35 saved swords, and the remaining nine follow from Maple at 40 to Rising Dragon at 100, for 19 sets in all.
The nine sets added in version 1.4 (Maple, Crane, Thunder, Flame, Moonlit Grass, Koi, Tiger, Butterfly, and Rising Dragon) can also be unlocked early: on the fittings screen, watch an ad to unlock the next one in order, once per day.
Mix unlocked scabbards, guards, and handle wraps freely. Progress counts each newly finished sword you save. Viewing a saved blade again or changing its fittings does not increase the count.
Fittings remain earnable by crafting, or unlock one set for 100 coins and all sets for 1500. Special materials cost 200 purchased coins each or 800 for all five. Coins spent on individual items reduce the corresponding bundle price.
Daily crafting, challenges and first rank milestones award earned coins for fittings. Materials require purchased coins. Previews are free, and purchases never increase appraisal scores.
Japan coin packs: 100 for JPY100; 350 for JPY300; 1,000 for JPY800; 2,000 for JPY1,500. Totals include bonuses, which can also unlock special materials. Check the purchase screen for your local price.
Coins and coin unlocks are stored on this device. Cross-device transfer is not supported. Coins never expire. Restore purchases restores previous non-consumables; it does not replenish spent coins.
Scores use 60% forging and 40% quenching. Automatic commentary describes the hamon. Appraisal is a score, not sale proceeds or cash value. Optional Game Center rankings share your Game Center name and best score when you explicitly submit it.
From the home screen, open “•••” → “Fittings & restore purchases” → “Restore purchases”. Use the same Apple Account you used to buy the unlock in the App Store, with an internet connection.
If product information cannot load, try “Reload”. A purchase awaiting approval becomes available after it is approved. Restore purchases restores the purchased material and fitting rights. It does not restore your saved swords or the progress you earned by playing.
Choose “Make a wallpaper” on the inspection screen. Choose a Gold dragon, Silver waves, or Cherry blossoms background, then adjust the pose and lighting. The exported image is a portrait wallpaper designed for a smartphone.
“Save to Photos” asks for permission to add an image to your photo library the first time. You can also use “Share” to export to Files or another destination without granting photo access. Select the saved image in your device’s wallpaper settings. The app does not change your wallpaper automatically.
When you open the app on the next day, materials are replenished to three swords’ worth. You can also choose to watch an ad from the home screen to add two more.
During the quench, tap the screen when the moving needle enters the bright zone. During polishing, follow the on-screen guide and move the blade left and right to remove the haze.
Your first failed quench can be retried for free. After that, watching an ad lets you try again while keeping the clay line and the steel you forged.
Your swords and crafting progress are saved on your device. Updating the installed app on that device retains this data. Deleting the app may remove your saved data.
The app does not provide its own cloud sync or a way to transfer your sword collection between devices. “Restore purchases” can check the materials and fittings you bought, but it does not restore your swords or earned progress.
Hamon uses rewarded ads that you choose to watch for things such as additional materials or help with a crafting stage. You do not need to allow tracking to start making swords.

Earlier versions use screens centered on orders, Renown, and utsushi challenges. The fittings progression, one-time purchase, and wallpaper features described on this page are for version 1.3. Please include your installed version when contacting support about an earlier release.
